Name: Corrie & Craig
Designation:
Born: 1874 or 1875
Died: c. 1879
Bio Notes: James Corrie was born c.1823, the son of Richard Corrie, farmer and his wife Mary Caven. He married Helen Chalmers and commenced independent practice relatively late, in 1874 or 1875 at 125 West Regent Street, Glasgow, in partnership with James Jackson Craig, who had been born c.1841, the son of Robert Craig, farmer and his wife Isabella Jackson.

On 15 September 1875 Craig married Lilias Morton, the daughter of a potato merchant, James Morton at Stonelaw Farm, Rutherglen. This Rutherglen connection brought him the appointment of burgh surveyor there.

In the difficult conditions after the failure of the City of Glasgow Bank in 1879 the partnership was dissolved, Craig reopening at 175 St Vincent Street and in Rutherglen, ultimately taking his son Morton Craig into partnership as J Jackson Craig & Son.
