Bio Notes: James Westwater Ferrie was born in Glasgow on 19 May 1917, the son of James Ferrie, brass moulder, and his wife Isabella Westwater. He was a student member of the RIBA from 1946. He studied at the School of Architecture, Glasgow School of Art and was elected ARIBA in 1949. By the early 1950s he had emigrated to work in Singapore. By 1960 he had his own practice in Singapore as James W Ferrie & Partners. He was President of the Institute of Architects of Malaya at that time. He continued his practice until the late 1980s. He is no longer listed in directories in the 1990s.
