Notes: Competition assessed by John James Burnet and Dr Mackintosh, who favoured the design by Alex Cullen and James Lochhead; however, the commission went to the 3rd-placed architect, Alfred Hessell Tiltman. Established as a Poor Law hospital along with Western District Hospital and Stobhill Hospital - all opened on same day.
