Notes: The first contract in connection with the erection of the new magnetic observatory by the Government at Eskdalemuir, Dumfries shire, has been let to Messrs. Henderson and Duncan, Morningside, Edinburgh. The work embraces the making of a road and some foundations, the provision of a water supply, and the building of a boundary wall, and it has to be pushed forward very expeditiously, the contract providing that it must be completed in three months.
