Notes: CONCRETE BUILDINGS - The construction of the Waverley Hydropathic Institution, which is now being erected near Montrose, is carried on under the principle of Drake’s concrete building, and is said to be progressing very efficiently. It is being erected in conformity with designs furnished by Mr J C Walker, architect, Edinburgh; the contractor for the concrete work being Mr Waugh, Melrose. The building is of very perfect arrangements, and considerable dimensions. The employment of concrete in building and otherwise will thus soon be tested on a scale hitherto unequalled, at least north of the Scottish metropolis. [The Architect 23 October 1869 p208]
