Notes: William Holmes Howie's mother came from Kilbarchan. There is a stained glass window in the church dedicated to James Stevenson (with hwom Howie had spent some time as assistant) & family which was presumably moved here from the old church when the new church was built. The Stevensons are still in Kilbarchan. They gave the land for the car park associated with the church in the 1990s and I do wonder if they donated the land for the church which might explain why Howie got the job.
