Bio Notes: James Joliffe Read studied for the degree of MA at the University of Cambridge. He was elected ARIBA in 1954 and ARIAS in 1964. He was working in Cumbernauld at the latter date. He had returned to England by 1970 and was based in London. In 1979 he had a post with the Department of the Environment. From 1991 to 2004 he was a director of the Hertfordshire Building Preservation Trust.
