Bio Notes: Alexander (Sandy) Dawson was born on 5 March 1958. He attended secondary school in Alloa and obtained his first post in architecture with Stirling District Council in 1976 while studying part-time at the Mackintosh School of Architecture. He qualified in 1986 and worked for three years for Kirkcaldy District Council.

In 1989 he moved to a post with Falkirk District Council where he was involved with a large range of different projects. He subsequently moved to Clackmannanshire to become Head of Design and he stayed in this post for the remainder of his career. He accepted an early retirement package in 2011.

Dawson then became Dollar Academy Estates Manager and combined this role with a small private practice.

Dawson served on the Council and as President of the Stirling chapter of the RIAS as well as on a number of RIAS committees. He was also an elder of his local church. He was a keen football player and a life-long supporter of Alloa Athletic Club.

Dawson died suddenly on 19 November 2013, survived by his wife Morag and their son Neil.
