Bio Notes: Harry McDonald-Smith was born on 27 February 1936 and probably studied for the diploma in architecture at Edinburgh College of Art. Certainly he was living in Edinburgh while he was a student. He was elected ARIBA in 1962 and ARIAS in 1963. By 1970 he had a post with the Royal Bank of Scotland, presumably in their architects department. He remained with the bank and in due course was senior architect there.

He died on 2 October 2016. He was married twice, first to Carmen and then to Irene. He is survived by his second wife and by his two sons and three daughters.
