Bio Notes: John Marriott Knight studied for the degree of BArch in London and was elected ARIBA in 1967. Between the parts of his degree he worked for the Cumbernauld New Town Development Corporation as his his address in 1965 is given as being in Cumbernauld. He was still there in 1970. By 1979 he had moved to a post in the Ancient Monuments Branch of the Department of the Environment and was based Lady Lawson Street.

By 1994 the department for which he worked had become the Historic Buildings & Monuments Directorate.
