Basic Biographical Details Name: | Ronald Sheridan | Designation: | | Born: | 11 August 1937 | Died: | 11 February 2013 | Bio Notes: | Ronald Sheridan was born on 11 August 1937 in Port Glasgow. He studied at Glasgow School of Art and was elected ARIBA in 1967. He joined the practice of David Baird in Paisley followed by a period of time with the Crerar office in Oban. In the late 1960s he returned to Glasgow where he worked for the Richard Seifert Co-Partnership, particularly on the largest job at the time, the Anderston Centre. At this time Seifert allocated one architect per half million pounds worth of development. The Anderston centre was large enough to employ a large group of architects.
In 1970 Sheridan established his own practice in Paisley. Most of his work was private houses, house extensions, some tenement refurbishment and a number of conservation and reconstruction church projects , notably Paisley Methodist Church.
He subsequently moved to Kilmacolm where he served as elder and fabric convenor of St Columba Church. For many years he was a member of Gideon’s International and undertook pastoral work which included school and hospital visiting. He had a wide circle of friends in the village.
Outwith his professional life Sheridan enjoyed badminton, walking and travel with his second wife, Anne.
He died on 11 February 2013, survived by Anne and his son and daughter from his first marriage and four grandchildren.
