Basic Biographical Details Name: | Frank Allan & Rona Inch Morrison | Designation: | | Born: | Before 1964 | Died: | | Bio Notes: | Francis ('Frank') Allan was born about 1920, the son of James Allan, sculptor, and his wife Mary Catherine Grewsner (?). He was admitted ARIBA in 1948. His address in 1950 was 49 Constitution Street, Leith.
By 1964 he was practising in partnership with his wife Rona Inch Morrison. She had been born on 2 August 1911, the daughter of James Inch Morrison, architect and his wife Daisy Jane Cownie, and had studied at the School of Architecture, Edinburgh College of Art from 1929 to 1933 and then spent nine months in her father's office before completing her studies in 1934-5. After obtaining her diploma in June 1935 she had continued at the School for a further year to gain a post-diploma in Town Planning. In 1936 she had entered the office of Neil & Hurd, and she was admitted ARIBA on 30 November that year, her proposers being James Alexander Arnott, Frank Charles Mears and James Inch Morrison. She was also an Associate of the Edinburgh Architectural Association. In 1950 she had been a partner in the practice McIndoe & Inch Morrison, though details of this are yet to be found.
Frank Allan died from a coronary thrombosis on 22 April 1965.
In 1971 Rona Allan was a widow with a son at school, and was working five mornings a week as a Town Planning assistant in Edinburgh Corporation Town Planning Department. She retired by late 1975.
She died aged 91 on 7 June 2003 at Fairmile Marie Curie Centre.
