He was elected a student member of the RIBA in 1953. Around that time he was living in Edinburgh. He was still a student member on 1960. By 1965 he was still a student but had moved to Gladstone Terrace in Edinburgh. He was finally elected ARIBA in 1971. He had a post in the Department of Architectural Services, Lothian Regional Council by the late 1970s. He remained with this department until at least the 1980s. He is not listed in the 1994 RIBA directory.
