Bio Notes: Joseph Whitefield Francis was born in Glasgow on 10 May 1923, the son of Alexander Francis, steel elector, and his wife Elizabeth Whitefield who had married in Shotts in 1913. He was a student member of the RIBA from 1952. He was based in East Kilbride around this time. He was elected ARIBA and ARIAS in 1954. In about 1956 he was still a student by had moved to Buckinghamshire and by 1960 had emigrated to Canada. By 1979 he is listed as being employed in the Engineers and Architects Branch, Department of Indian Affairs & Northern Development, Journal Building, Ottawa.
