Bio Notes: Robert Dallas Herd was born on 20 June 1918, the son of Robert Dallas Herd, company secretary, and his wife Margaret Agnes Noel Hyslop. He was elected a student member of the RIBA in 1947. He gave his address as c/o Sinclair MacDonald around this time until at least 1953. He was presumably serving his articles with the practice. He was elected ARIBA in 1953 and ARIAS in 1954 and by 1960 had moved to Glasgow. In 1970 he was working in Argyll County Architect's Department in Dunoon.

Herd died on 5 September 1972 in Dunoon District General Hospital. He never married.
