Basic Biographical Details Name: | Geoffrey Hobert (or Hubert) Fairweather | Designation: | | Born: | 12 February 1913 | Died: | 1955 | Bio Notes: | Geoffrey Hobert (or Hubert - sources vary) Fairweather was born on 12 February 1913, the son of Hubert Moore Fairweather. He worked in the office of the general contractor employed on King's College Hospital, London in the early 1930s. From May 1932 or 1933 he worked as a junior with Pite Son & Fairweather and simultaneously attended evening classes at the Regent Street Polytechnic. He remained with Pite Son & Fairweather for four years and for a proporation of that time he was in charge of the Aberdeen office. He spent four and a half years in all at the Regent Street Poly.
From March 1937 he was site architect for the extension of the Medical School, University of Aberdeen. War service. He was elected ARIBA on 6 March 1939 having sat the RIBA Intermediate exam in 1935 and the final exam in 1939. His proposers were Robert W Pike, R Mountford Paget or Pigott and W H Ansell.
From 1940-45 Fairweather served with the Forces, ending the war holding the rank of Major in the Royal Engineers. He was invited to becoming a partner in the practice of Pite Son & Fairweather on 1 January 1946. The following year he travelled to Basle and Zurich in Switzerland and in 1953 to Dublin and Galway in Eire.
He died aged 41 between October and December 1955 in Tonbridge.
