Basic Biographical Details Name: | John Wishart Macgregor | Designation: | | Born: | 18 October 1901 | Died: | February 1988 | Bio Notes: | John Wishart Macgregpr was born in England on 18 October 1901. It is not clear where he trained initially but from 1917 he took continuation classes in Edinburgh, Perth and London where he was in practice. He was also afterwards a tutor in London. From 1924 to 1926 he worked with Lucas & Lodge; and then from 1928 to 1938 with Wallis Gilbert & Partners, mainly in the period as chief assistant. He was elected LRIBA on 3 April 1939, proposed by Thomas Wallis, Howard Dickson, A T Walsdon. Wallis remarked on his form that he showed 'great ability whilst in my employ, especially in construction'. At the time of his application to become a Licentiate of the RIBA he anticipated that he would be become a partner 'in the next few weeks'.
He died in Gloucestershire in February 1988, his death registered in Stroud in this month.
