Basic Biographical Details Name: | William McAndrew | Designation: | | Born: | 26 May 1895 | Died: | 19 November 1968 | Bio Notes: | William McAndrew was born on 26 May 1895, the son of William McAndrew, clerk, and his wife Helen Miller. From 1921 to 1929 McAndrew was employed as a technical assistant with the Office of Works in Glasgow mainly under Andrew Duncan Kellock. He moved to the post of estste architect and clerk of works to Scone estate in 1929 and from 1934 until 1955 worked as a salaried architect on the Dunecht estates.
He was elected LRIBA in 1956, his proposers being John Gibb Marr, Alexander George Robertson MacKenzie and Edward Foulkes Davies. In his statement of support in the Nomination Paper, Marr wrote that McAndrew 'was mainly employed on the design of small cottages and alterations and improvements to existing cottages and farm buildings'
