Basic Biographical Details Name: | Ernest Howard Sadler | Designation: | | Born: | 12 September 1911 | Died: | 11 December 1989 | Bio Notes: | Ernest Howard Sadler was born on 12 September 1911, the son of Ernest Sadler, builder contractor and his wife, Annie Wright. From 1927 to 1932 to was articled to John Simpson of Matlock whilst at the same time stdying part-time at Derby College of Art. From 1929 to1934 he received private tuition from John Williams who was a senior lecturer at the School of Architecture, Manchester University. He sat the RIBA examination in December 1935 and was elected ARIBA on 13 February 1936 his proposers being Lawrence Dawbarn, E W Armstrong, George H Widdows.
From 1936 he was a senior assistant to E W Armstrong and from 1940 he was constructional consultant to the Tentest Fibre Board Company. In 1945 he returned to E W Armstrong as chief assistant and was invited to join his practice as partner in 1948. During this period he worked on housing for the Guiness trust and for the LCC Metrolpolitan and other borough councils. In 1950 he commenced private practice in New Barnet.
He died on 11 December 1989 at his home at 37 Grange Loan.
