Bio Notes: Douglas William Seaton was born on 26 November 1924, the son of William Seaton, school headmaster, and his wife Selby Douglas Dickson. He studied architecture at Edinburgh College of Art. He was elected ARIBA in 1950. He was invited by Morton John Heddell Cowie in Edinburgh to join him in partnership in 1961 under the practice title of Morton J H Cowie & Seaton, and he continued the firm after Cowie's retirement in 1970.

He suffered a stroke in 1997 and retired from practice, remaining in Edinburgh thereafter. He died in July or August 2007, survived by his wife Christine Duncan Cowan Bannatyne, a retired catering manager.
