Bio Notes: Lucy Shearer was born on 20 January 1964, the daughter of James Parr, architect, Dundee and his wife Dorothy. She was educated at St Andrews Primary Schoool and Dundee High School. As a teenager she spent three consecutive summers working in France on restoration projects with the organisation Le Club de Vieux Manoir. She became fluent in French. She studied architecture aat Glasgow School of Art, graduating in 1987 and was elected ARIAS in 1991.

She met fellow architecture student, Graeme Shearer, at the School of Art and they married in 1993. Together they set up in practice as Parr Shearer in Miller Street, Glasgow. Their first project was the restoration of their home which was opened on Doors open Day in 1994 and 1995 and was visited by more than 10,000 people. As well as running the practice Lucy taught at Strathclyde University School of Architecture and was active in the Glasgow Institute of Architects.

Outwith her work Lucy Shearer was a keep fit enthusiast and enjoyed skiing, running and swimming.

Lucy Shearer became ill while expecting their first child. She died four months after the birth of their daughter on 13 August 1999.
