Basic Biographical Details Name: | Hugh Collins White | Designation: | | Born: | 21 January 1944 | Died: | 2 March 2008 | Bio Notes: | Hugh Collins White was born on 21 October 1944, the son of William Mitchell White, steel works manager, and his wife Mary Ann Luke Collins, a finance administrator. He was articled to Hay, Steel McFarlane & Partners in Kilmarnock whilst studying part-time at Glasgow School of Art. After the completion of his studies he remained with the practice, working there for fourteen years and seven months in total. When McFarlane left the practice to work on his own, Hugh went to work for him. However McFarlane died quite soon after and Hugh started his own practice, commencing business on 1 November 1979. He continued on his own until his retirement on 31 June 2008. He was a member of the Glasgow branch of the RIAS. His home address was in Maybole.
