Bio Notes: Gibson Wallace ('Walt') Reekie was born in St Monance on 10 November 1952, the son of Robert Reekie, fisherman, and his wife Hilda Robins. He studeid architecture at Duncan of Jordanstone College in Dundee. After a brief spell working in a private practice, he joined Fife Regional Council where he worked as a project architect and subsequently team leader, on a variety of public building projects including multi-storey carparks and Council offices. After reorganisation in 1996 he was re-located to the Council offices in Cupar, where he had begun his career with Fife Region. Thereafter he worked extensively on Council-owned properties. Privately he designed a new house in Crail and extended his own house in Pittenweem.

Outwith his work Reekie always enjoyed challenges, including sailing on the Forth and diving. His obituarist described him as 'quick witted, spontaneous and made friends easily'. His 'hands-on ' approach as team leader was 'tempered with good humour and helpfulness. Few of us will forget the many times that Wallace brightened up a dull winter day in the drawing office'.
