Bio Notes: David Roland Penman was the son of Leslie Roland Penman, architect. He attended Edinburgh College of Art where he studied architecture and town planning and obtained qualifications in both subjects. He was elected ARIBA and ARIAS in 1961. During his degree and directly after completing it, he had a post with Sir Basil Spence, Glover & Ferguson and signed the drawings for the Genetics and Virology building in December 1960.

He was taken into the partnership of Bamber Hall & Partners before 1970. He was Director of Planning, Perth & Kinross District Council by 1979. He is not listed in the RIBA directories of 1984 and 1994.

Penman died on 1 September 2012 at Blairgowrie Cottage Hospital. He seems to have lived in Meigle after retirement. He is survived by his wife, Tamara, his children and grandchildren.
