Bio Notes: Robert Russell Potter was born on 30 September 1940, the son of John Nairn Potter, steelworks brakesman, and his wife Helen Russell, grocer's assistant. He studied at the School of Architecture, Glasgow College of Art. He was elected ARIBA and ARIAS in 1966. His home address was in East Kilbride in 1968. His practice became Hill, Mcdonald & Potter and later Robert Potter & Partners. He served as Fellow and President of the GIA.

Robert Russell Potter died in Ayr Hospital on 9 February 2006, survived by his wife Isobel Shaw McBride, a retired primary school teacher.
