Bio Notes: William James Gilmour was born on 18 June 1919, the son of William James Gilmour, weights and measures inspector, and his wife, Jessie Boyd. He was elected ARIBA in 1953. In the RIBA Directory of 1970 he was ARIAS, which he had joined in 1964 and 'AIArb' [sic]. He seems to have had an association with the practice Wright & Kay in about 1970. Office notepaper from this period shows 'Wright, Kay & William J Gilmour'.

He died at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Glasgow on 11 April 1978, survived by his wife Maudie Joan Mary Howard.
