He was elected ARIBA in 1951 and ARIAS in 1953. He was a partner with Frank Burnet, Bell & Partners by 1965. He moved to the practice of Wright Kirkwood & Partners before 1970. He remained with the practice until the 1980s and was sole partner in 1981.
He died on 13 December 1987 at Aberdeen Railway Station.
