Basic Biographical Details Name: | John Mackay Lawrie | Designation: | | Born: | 21 May 1927 | Died: | 29 January 2001 | Bio Notes: | John Mackay Lawrie was born on 21 May 1927, the son of George Lawrie, horticulturalist, and his wife Agnes Brydon Sinclair Mackay. He studied at the School of Architecture in Aberdeen. He was elected ARIBA in 1953 and ARIAS in 1954. He formed a partnership with Alexander Renton Richardson before 1970. They had offices in Edinburgh, Inverness and Clydebank. At the time of his death in 2001 he was a retired Fellow of the RIAS; he was a member of the Dundee Chapter and had been a representative of its Inverness chapter by 1964. Lawrie's younger brother, Kenneth Sinclair Lawrie, was also an architect.
Lawrie was married three times, first to Johanna Annabella McLeod, second is unrecorded in the death register, and third to Lynn Macfarlane Robertson or Birrell.
