Bio Notes: James Guy Lindsay Pate studied town planning at Glasgow School of Art. He was a member of the Town Planning Institute. He was elected ARIBA in 1968, so had qualified as an architect by this date. He joined the practice of Thomas Smith, Gibb & Pate before 1970.

It is as yet unclear when Pate set up in independent practice, the name of the firm becoming J G Lindsay Pate and Associates before 1985. At that date there were two architects and one technician employed in the firm, the second architect being S H A Anderson.
