Basic Biographical Details Name: | Haswell-Smith & Partners | Designation: | | Born: | 1972 | Died: | 1990 | Bio Notes: | Haswell-Smith started his own practice in Nairobi, Kenya in 1954 and took Ian McFarlane in as partner in 1957. They closed the firm in 1960 and on returning to Edinburgh Haswell-Smith joined Bernard Laurie Matthew and set up practice at 15 Queen Street as Matthew, Smith & Partners. In 1972 he formed Haswell-Smith & Partners at 66 Frederick Street and took Philip Samuel Black into partnership in 1974. John Gray followed as partner in charge of the newly-opened Glasgow office. James Davidson was also a partner for a few years in charge of the Aberdeen office.
The practice specialised in the conservation of historic gardens.
Haswell-Smith retired as a partner in 1985 and Philip Black then left the firm. John Gray invited John Alexander Smith to become partner in charge of the Edinburgh office in 1988 but the firm was dissolved in 1990.
