Basic Biographical Details Name: | Edward Armand Darley | Designation: | | Born: | 31 October 1915 | Died: | 26 June 1974 | Bio Notes: | Edward Armand Darley was born on 31 October 1915, the son of Edward Darley, delivery foreman, and his wife Florence Annie Stubbins. He was articled to Charles O Lockey of Withernsea for three years from August 1934. In August 1937 he was appointed architectural assistant to Hull City Engineer's Department, leaving in March 1938 to take up a similar position in Grimsby Borough Engineer's Department. From June 1939 to September 1942 he worked as second architectural assistant to Lincoln's City Engineer and Surveyor.
He took the qualifying exam in Edinburgh in July 1941 and was admitted ARIBA on 14 April 1942, his proposers being G Dudley Harbon, Allanson Hick and R A Andrew. He had been temporarily attached to the Royal Engineers in a civilian capacity since the previous September. He was elected FRIAS in 1953.
He was practising independently in Ayr in 1970.
He died at his home in Cochrane Place, Prestwick, on 26 June 1974. He was survived by his wife Mary Betty Taylor.
