He studied architecture at the the School of Art and Royal Technical College in Glasgow (later converting this to a BArch at the University of Strathclyde). He was elected ARIBA in 1953 and ARIAS in 1961. He worked for J & J a Carrick from at least 1965 and was subsequently became a partner. He is no longer listed in 1987, suggesting he had retired by this date.
