Bio Notes: Martin Muir Walker Wellwood was born on 11 May 1940, the son of Oliver Muir Wellwood and his wife Isobel Blyth Walker. He was educated in Dundee at Rockwell Primary School and Harris Academy. He studied at the Duncan of Jordanstone School of Architecture and was admitted ARIBA in 1965.

He joined the practice of Baxter Clark & Paul in 1962 but moved to Findlay Stewart & Robbie a year later, Henry Pearce Robbie being the sole partner at that date. He worked closely with the Servite Housing Association, including the first sheltered housing in Dundee at Alloway Place and completed more than 20 projects for the Association. He lived in Muirhead in Angus and he was involved with several projects there.

Outwith his professional life, Wellwood was a keen sportsman. He was a member of the Lundie and Auchterhouse Curling Club for over 25 years. His wife, Reita Laburn, was also a keen curler. While at Harris Academy Wellwood had played for the Rugby Club and in later years played for Harris FPs. He attended Muirhead of Liff and Lundie Parish Church where he became session clerk in 1992.

Wellwood died at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee on 9 October 1999, survived by his wife, their so and their daughters and grandaughter. At the time of his death in 1999 Brian A Smith and Neil Simpson were associates with the practice.
