Bio Notes: John David Weir was born on 23 November 1914, the son of John Duncan Weir, bank clerk and his wife, Margaret Wightman Fyfe Herd. From 1933 he studied at Edinburgh College of Art, being exempted from the Intermediate Exam in 1935 and from the RIBA Final Exam in 1939 and being awarded the diploma in that year. During this period he also gained office experience. He was awarded a travelling scholarship in 1938 and visited France. He was admitted ARIBA on 23 November 1940. At the time of hos application to the RIBA he was serving with HM Forces. In 1950 he was living in Edinburgh at 72 Baronscourt.

He died on 19 February 2000 at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Edinburgh. He never married.
