Basic Biographical Details

Name: (Miss) Jean Gordon Welsh
Designation:
Born: 5 November 1930
Died: 31 March 2009
Bio Notes: Miss Jean Gordon Welsh was born on 5 November 1930, the daughter of James Roy Gibson Welsh, analytical chemist, and his wife Jeannie Wilson Gordon. She studied at Glasgow School of Art (her degree later being upgraded to BArch at the University of Strathclyde) and was elected ARIBA and ARIAS in 1955. In the following year she joined William Nimmo in practice as William Nimmo & Partners with an office in Wishaw. A mention in the obituary of Clara Charleson Reimann, who executed a house for Welsh based on her initial drawings during her retirement, suggests that she may have worked for Inverclyde District Council Architect's Department until retiring in 1996.

She died on 31 March 2009 at Inverclyde Royal Hospital. She was not married.
