Name: Alan McDonald (sometimes spelt Alan MacDonald)
Designation:
Born: 1935
Died: Mid 2010
Bio Notes: Alan McDonald (or MacDonald) was born in 1935 and attended the High School of Glasgow and Glasgow School of Art. He joined Honeyman, Jack & Robertson in the early 1960s. Having been elected ARIBA in 1969, he was taken into partnership in the same firm in 1970. He remained with the practice until his retirement in 1996.

He designed and built his own home in Dryman. Completed in 1982, its design is a modern take on a Scandinavian chalet. In his spare time he enjoyed watercolour painting, and his depictions of Drymen townscapes and harbour views display a considerable talent. After his retirement he and his family spent winters in Sarasota, Florida.

He died in mid-2010, survived by his wife Val, son Donald, daughter Karen and Donald's children Summer and Finn.
