Bio Notes: Baron Bercott was born on 11 December 1920. He studied at the University of Liverpool from 1939-40 and from 1946-49 and was awarded the degree of BArch. He was admitted ARIBA in 1948. He returned to study for a diploma in town planning the following session, 1949-50. In August 1949 he took a post as assistant planning officer with Glenrothes Development Corporation but moved after a year to work as an assistant with Boswell Mitchell & Johnston. From October 1951 he set up business on his own account. He appears to have moved to Glasgow by 1950. By 1964 he was practising as Baron Bercott & Associates. In 1985 there were 12 architects and technicians working in the practice. He was elected FRIAS in 1991. By 1994 the name had changed again to Bercott Architects. He transferred to the retired category of the RIAS in March 2003 and died on 7 April 2005, survived by his daughter, Nicole.
