He was elected ARIBA in 1966 and ARIAS in 1967. He joined the Covell Matthews & Partners practice as director in 1974 and remained with the practice until at least 1990. He would appear to have retired by 1994 and to have been living in Bearsden. Scott died at the Beatson Oncology Centre on 27 May 2005 aged 68.
