Basic Biographical Details

Name: Andrew Oliver Chalmers Barron
Designation:
Born: 29 July 1918
Died: 21 March 2008
Bio Notes: Andrew Oliver Chalmers Barron was born on 29 July 1918 in Leven, the son of Stuart Oliver William Barron, architect and his wife Christina Beattie Chalmers. He studied architecture at Dundee College of Art. He was admitted ARIBA in 1950. Like his father he worked in the practice of Maclaren Soutar Salmond. By about 1953 he had moved to Swindon, Wiltshire. His stay in Wiltshire must have been relatively brief as he had returned to Lanarkshire by the early 1960s where he was employed as an assistant with Cullen Lochead & Brown. In 1994 he gave his home address in the RIBA directory suggesting he had withdrawn from the practice (Alex Cullen & Co by 1979) by this time.

He died at Udston Hosptial, Hamilton on 21 March 2008. His wife had predeceased him but he was survived by at least one daughter.
