Bio Notes: William Muir Armstrong ('Bill') was born in 1929. He studied at Edinburgh College of Art and was elected ARIBA in 1956 He joined the Jenkins & Marr partnership in Aberdeen in 1962 (the year in which he was elected ARIAS) where he remained until 1967. It is as yet unclear where he worked from then until 1970 when he was taken into partnership in the Hugh Wlison/Lewis Womersley practice. This practice had been established by Hugh Wilson in 1962 with an office in Blake Street, Cumbernauld. Wilson had been the chief architect and planning officer for Cumbernauld New Town from 1956. In 1964 Lewis Womersley was taken into partnership the practice name becoming Hugh Wilson & Lewis Womersley. In that same year offices were opened London and Manchester. From 1968 until 1974 there was also an office in Cumbernauld town centre.

Bill Armstrong remained with the practice until his retirement in 1989. He held three directorships of companies about this time: North Bridge Estates Ltd, Park Project Management Ltd, and Tayside Property Services Ltd.
