Basic Biographical Details Name: | Alastair Macrae | Designation: | | Born: | 27 May 1904 | Died: | | Bio Notes: | Alastair Macrae was born on 27 May 1904 and was articled to James Findlay of Dundee in 1922, attending evening classes at Dundee Technical College. He remained with Findlay as assistant until 1927 when he moved to the office of Mills & Shepherd. The following year he joined Dundee City Architect's Department as assistant, and he remained tehre until 1935 when he moved to Bradford to assist John Alfred Fletcher, the City Architect there. He passed the qualifying exam in London in December 1938 and was admitted ARIBA on 4 April 1938, his proposers being Fletcher, John Donald Mills and David Smith.
Macrae later worked in the Public Works Department at Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea.
