Basic Biographical Details Name: | James Macneil Cowie | Designation: | | Born: | 2 June 1915 | Died: | 1959 | Bio Notes: | James Macneil Cowie was born on 2 June 1915 and was articled to an unspecified architect in 1933, attending evening classes at Glasgow School of Art from 1934 to 1936. Thereafter he attended day classes at the Royal Technical College and sought further office experience during holidays. He obtained his diploma in June 1939 and was exempted from the final exam. He was admitted ARIBA on 12 December of that year, his proposers being Thomas Harold Hughes, William James Smith and Thomas Johnston Beveridge. At that time he was living at 'Holmlea', Cleland Road, Wishaw. In 1950 he was a partner in Cowie & Millar in Motherwell.
Cowie was elected FRIAS in 1953. At that date his address was in Cambuslang. There is no trace of Cowie in Scotland after this.
