Bio Notes: Urquhart, Lindsay & Co were a firm of mill engineers and textile machinery manufacturers founded by William Walton Urquhart, born 1841, and Joseph Lindsay, born 1835. Lindsay had commenced his career in Pearce Brothers Lilybank Foundry and had worked in the engineering department of Gilroy Brothers Tay Works in the mid-1860s. Urquhart died on 17 April 1891 and Lindsay on 25 April 1897 but the business continued under the same name. It merged with Robertson & Orchar after the First World War.
