Basic Biographical Details Name: | Messrs Walter Duns | Designation: | | Born: | 8 April 1932 | Died: | | Bio Notes: | Walter Duns lived and practised as an architect from Langtongate, Duns, Berwickshire in the 1920s and 1930s. He was presumably related to the earlier David Duns and George Duns, and was probably the father of the second George Duns, born 22 February 1910, who was educated at Duns Public School from 1915 to 1921 and subesquently studying at Berwickshire High School. On 1 September 1927 George was articled to Walter Duns, and he appears to have simultaneously spent time in the Edinburgh office of John Jerdan. On 8 April 1932 he was made a partner in the family firm, the title of which changed to Messrs Walter Duns, Architects.
George was entered on the Register of Architects on 27 June 1941 and was admitted LRIBA on 19 January 1943 with the support of only two proposers: Jerdan and William Barnet Wyllie. He was still officially practising from Langtongate, Duns under the same practice title, although at that time he must have been on war service as his declaration accepting his admittance was witnessed by a lieutenant at Ashridge Camp, Berkhamsted. | Private and Business AddressesThe following private or business addresses are associated with this : | | Address | Type | Date from | Date to | Notes | | Langtongate, Duns, Berwickshire, Scotland | Business | 1932 | After 1943 | |
