Bio Notes: John George William Barnie was born on 24 January 1920, the son of JAmes Barnie, farmer, and his wife, Margaret Sinclair. He was an apprentice in the Wick office of Sinclair Macdonald & Son from c.1938 and was taken into partnership in 1960. He retired in 1990.

Barnie died at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness on 29 December 2005, his wife, Doris Cecelia Oastler, a builder's office secretary, having predeceased him. His son who lived in Hertfordshire survived him.
