She was articled to Carruthers Ballantyne & Taylor of Inverness from 20 September 1926 to 31 August 1929. On 1 September she commenced the diploma course at the School of Architecture, Robert Gordon's College, Aberdeen, passing the diploma in June 1931, and the post-diploma and Professional Practice exam in June 1932. She was admitted ARIBA on 8 January 1934, her proposers being William John Taylor, John Alistair Ross and Alexander Finlay Mackenzie. She gave her business and private address as Ashie, Culduthel, Inverness.
On 11 May 1942 Jessie married another architect, Edward Ingoldsby. His address is given as being in London. However she retained her Edinburgh address until at least 1955. She is not listed in the RIBA Kalendar for 1960-61.
Jessie died in Norwich in 2001. Her death was registered in November.
