Basic Biographical Details Name: | Alexander Simpson Reid | Designation: | | Born: | | Died: | | Bio Notes: | Alexander Simpson Reid attended day and evening classes at Robert Gordon's Technical College, Aberdeen from September 1914, spending Saturdays and holidays as an apprentice in the office of Jenkins & Marr. From September 1916 to August 1917 he worked full-time in the office whilst continuing to attend evening classes. His training was interrupted by military service from August 1917 to March 1919. Thereafter he returned to the same office and continued his studies, obtaining his diploma in September 1919 and his post-diploma in September 1921. After a further nine months' study, both at the Technical College and privately, together with spare-time work with Jenkins & Marr, he passed the final exam in London in June 1922. He was admitted ARIBA late that year, his proposers being John Alexander Ogg Allan, Robert Gordon Wilson Junior and John Wilson Walker. His nomination papers do not give a business address; it is unclear whether he was still in the Jenkins & Marr office at the time.
