Bio Notes: Archibald Welsh practised in Kirkcaldy and was architect to the Kirkcaldy and District (previously Pathhead and Sinclairtown) Co-operative Societies. Nothing is known of his background or training.

In 1936 he took James Hutchon Junior into partnership. Hutchon had been born on 26 June 1910, the son of the Kinross-shire carpenter and builder James Hutchon Senior. He had studied architecture at Dundee College of Art where he had obtained his diploma c. 1935. The practice of Welsh & Hutchon was initially based at 92 High Street.

During the Second World War Hutchon served with the Royal Engineers as a 2nd Lieutenant. The partnership of Welsh & Hutchon was resumed in 1945, but dissolved in 1947. Hutchon continued to practise on his own account whilst Welsh merged his practice with that of the much younger Alexander Stewart Tod soon thereafter.
