Bio Notes: John Duncan Grant was probably born in the 1890s. He was articled to John Robertson of Inverness from January 1904 and remained with him as assistant until 1910. During this period he attended evening classes (location not specified) supplementing this by a correspondence course. In September 1912 he moved to London to become an assistant to P C Holland whilst apprently also working for London Council Superintending Architects' Department. In July 1914 he emigrated to Rhodesia and took a post as architectural assistant in the Public Works Department in Salisbury. He served with the forces in East Africa and France during the First World War and on demobilisation in April 1919 returned to England to take up a post with R E Wainch (unclear in Nomination Paper) and H M Cantley in Ipswich. He spent some months in 1923 working for the Works & Buildings Department of the Air Ministry in London and from December of that year with the Housing Section of the Borough Engineer's Depatment in Woolwich.

He was admitted ARIBA on 3 March 1924, nominated by the Coucil of the RIBA.

By 1950 Grant had returned to Scotland and had a post in the Burgh Architect's Office in Inverness.
