Basic Biographical Details Name: | John Bryce Brechin | Designation: | | Born: | 30 July 1863 | Died: | 18 April 1941 | Bio Notes: | John Bryce Brechin was born on 30 July 1863, the son of Robert Miller Brechin, commission agent (described as agent for jewellery in the Census of 1861, he died in 1893 on a business venture to New Zealand) and Davida Bryce, a daughter of David Bryce's brother John, who had married on 17 October 1862 in Blythswood, Glasgow. After the retirement of David Bryce's nephew John, the practice which still retained the title David & John Bryce, was carried on by John Bryce Brechin. He did not join the RIBA and is not as yet recorded as having carried out any architectural work. His business was perhaps more surveyor than architect. He retired in 1928 and died of heart failure on 18 April 1941. He was predeceased by his wife, Georgia Rousseau. who passed away in August 1929. He had two sons, William Sinclair Bryce Brechin, who died in 1937 and John Lewis Bryce Brechin.
The practice continued after John Bryce Brechin's retirement.
